Grants Versus Scholarships

Hey guys. Many ask what is the difference? A grant is often times awarded by a school or state to those that are in financial need. If you make a salary in a certain income bracket you may be eligible for many grants such as the widely popular pell grant

A scholarship on the other hadn will be awarded to eligible participants based on other criteria. Such as race, grades and college of education. Remeber both grants and scholarships most often times do NOT need to be paid back so they are a better alternative to loans.

Scholarships for Dads with Children

There are a number of universities that reward scholarships for single dads, though the selection process depends greatly on financial status. In Utah, the Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business has the BYU Marriott School Single Parent Scholarship, which extends financial aid to single fathers who have been accepted into the Marriott School and the stipulation is that you do not remarry for the duration of their course. The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire offers the Richard and Joan Fleming Single Parent Scholarship to single fathers and students of nontraditional age which implies younger or older then usual. Emporia State University in Kansas offers the Single Parents with Children Scholarship to single fathers, as well as divorced or widowed parents who are enrolled as either undergraduates or graduate students.

Getting a Scholarship as a Parent

Getting a scholarships as a parent is now easier then ever. Almost all parents are eligible for some type of reward. Weather the reward be $100 or $10,000 everything helps! You can get more then one award as well! Just because you got a $250 award doesn't mean that you are ineligible to receive another. Remember once you are given the award your institutions financial aid department will give you immediate access you your money in most cases. They you can buy books and supplies for your classes!

Scholarships for Moms

Parents get money to go to college just for being a parent! Not many people know that the government allots Pell Grants as well as scholarships to both married and single mothers! It's actually a staggering amount of money that can be awarded to you for your schooling. In fact almost 1 in 2 mothers are eligible for this program.

A pell grant is a grant that's given to you by the government to help you afford college. It, like a scholarship is yours!
